The planning process
Who makes the decision?
As the proposed project is for electricity generation of more than 100MW, it is classed as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) under the Planning Act 2008 and we will therefore apply for a Development Consent Order (DCO). Applications for a DCO are submitted to the Planning Inspectorate, which processes and examines the applications before making a recommendation to the relevant Secretary of State (in this case the Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy) who makes the final decision on whether the proposed project is acceptable.
We have now submitted our Scoping Report to the Planning Inspectorate and received a Scoping Opinion in response.
We hosted our first round of Public Information Days in October 2016 for local communities to come and meet the team, find out more about the project, and share their views with us.
When can you get involved?
We've prepared a guide to the process highlighting when you can get involved and have your say on the project. You can read in our newsletter which is available now for download.
